MBHU sensitization activities are conducted at village levels and this has so far reached over 50,000 people with knowledge about human rights, child rights and women rights. Our messages have been jointly delivered by MBHU local human rights experts with support from SSU Denmark. We have also engaged local authorities like police, probation office and other independent human rights experts.
MBHU further conducts village level trainings for community members and local leaders on OVC rights and roles of every citizen in protecting and supporting OVCs, we also give lectures advocating human rights and equality: These village level trainings are conducted to equip community members, caregivers and local leaders with knowledge and skills to better perform their roles in protecting and promoting OVC rights. This activity supplements village level sensitization. These activities are normally facilitated by the project implementation team, district probation office, Child Protection Units in the Police and legal aid service providers. During these trainings, IEC materials about child and other human rights and how to protect/promote them are distributed to the participants with reference to UN declaration on human rights and child rights convention (CRC), and using other approaches like, finding community based child protection solutions, reporting and referring and follow up of child protection cases, and child rights and other talks on equality, human rights, the importance of giving everybody equal opportunities and avoiding stigmatization of marginalized groups.
